Oklahoma is one of 35 states that are impacted by a salmonella outbreak that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has yet to identify the source of.
An epidemic of salmonella infections that has infected over 400 individuals across numerous states is still being investigated by the CDC.
At least 419 instances have been connected to the epidemic, according to a CDC report released on Thursday, with 66 of them needing hospitalization. The CDC previously reported 279 cases in 29 states, including 26 hospitalizations, on Sept. 23.
The outbreak has not caused any known fatalities.
Even yet, the real number of people infected is almost always greater than what is reported, since many infected people recover without seeking medical attention or informing authorities.
The CDC has not yet been able to pinpoint a specific meal as being the cause of the outbreak’s spread. Authorities previously reported that a strain of Salmonella Oranienburg had been discovered in a condiment cup containing cilantro, lime, and onions from a takeaway meal. At the time, the CDC said that it was unable to identify the infected product or component since the takeaway package included other items.
Because of this, the CDC urges everyone to wash, prepare, and consume items that may lead to food poisoning in accordance with the agency’s food safety guidelines.
On the 29th of September, the epidemic had spread to 35 different states.
