A winter storm warning has been issued for central Oklahoma for late Tuesday through Thursday. This warning issued by the National Weather Service was announced early Monday morning.
Those looking to get their winter fix will have ample opportunities this week. A significant drop in weather is expected. Highs are expected to be below freezing on Wednesday, Thursday, and possibly even Friday.
The National Weather Service has warned that precipitation in northwest Oklahoma will start Tuesday evening and spread across the state. Areas starting with rain and a wintry mix will soon turn to snow, which is expected to end on Thursday evening.
How Much Snow and Ice is expected?
The National Weather Service has different predictions of how much snow and ice Oklahoma City will see, but they all agree it will be a lot. Up to one-quarter inch of ice will fall before up to four inches of snow.
The same freezing system that is predicted to travel through Oklahoma, leaving ice and snow in its wake, is expected to drop snow across most of the Midwest as well.
