The first weekend in October marks the Oklahoma Czech Festival, a Yukon tradition celebrating the town’s rich Czech heritage. Festivities begin Friday evening with a carnival in downtown Yukon. The festival features an array of activities and amusement for all ages, such as a parade, vendor booths, food vendors, and performances by Czech dancers.

Thousands are expected to turn out for the annual Czech Festival, held this year on October 2nd. Festival goers will get to explore Czech culture, including an opportunity to taste Czech food, hear Czech music, dance to Czech music, and even wear traditional Czech style clothes. Festival goers will also have a chance to buy imported merchandise at the festival.

The Yukon Czech Festival kicks off at 8 am. One of the state’s largest parades starts at 10 am on Main Street, featuring the state’s Czech Royalty Pageant competitors and dancers. The parade will also include businesses, civic and youth groups.

The Oklahoma Czech Building on 5th Street is the place to be after the parade. It will be hosting some of the festivities that will take place all day. The celebration will include polka music, live dancing, carnival rides, a petting zoo, and a craft show. Traditional Czech food, including kolace pastries, klobasy sandwiches, and bread can be purchased at during the festivities.
